Mini Lollipop Quilt

I had quite a bit of little pieces of fabric leftover from my Layer Cake Quilt Along, so I stitched them together in strips (1", 1.5", 2" & 3").

This little quilt measures 22 1/2" x 32 1/2".
This is what the backside looked like. I added a "Wilma's Craft Corner" tag to the top left.
Ok, I now admit I'm not too good at keeping the backside straight.
Next quilt(s): simple backing fabric so I won't have to worry about being centred. :)

I think I'll sell this little quilt... hmmm... how much to sell it for????

Lollipop Quilt is Done!!

This week I finished my "Lollipop" quilt!! I just looove this quilt!!

This was the Layer Cake Quilt Along using Sandy Gervais's line of fabric called "Lollipops". It is such a happy, fun quilt.
I did some free-motion loopy-doop loops.
The back panel is a tad "off" - ie, not centred, but I love it nonetheless.
I also caught up on my blocks:

The April "Star Sampler" block
4 blocks for the P2QA (Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along):

"Stacked"
"Tailspin"
"4 Wheeler"
"Air Castle"

The colours look different from the first 2 P2QA blocks to the last 2 blocks... different camera & different light... & no photo editing (just cropping).

And finally, here is a photo of a little baby hat I crocheted a few weeks ago & have been forgetting to add to the blog. It has been years since I have crocheted, and it is the first hat I have ever crocheted. It's not perfect, but it was good practice.

I Won... AGAIN!!!!!

Today was VERY exciting...

I found out that I won a Layer Cake (40 - 10"x10" fabric bundle) from Moose Quilts for my "Lollipops" Layer Cake Quilt Along. I finished the binding yesterday and I just LOVE that quilt!!

Check out the link to my "win":

http://moosequilts.blogspot.com/2011/05/final-layer-cake-winners.html

A few minutes later I received an email informing me that I won fabric. I was a bit confused, but then I realized what was happening: I had entered my name in a draw for black & white fabric a few days ago. Chloe from Toad U Sew asked people what colour would compliment black & white... my answer was the classic red. Well, the random organizer picked me!!! Yes, me... the one who NEVER wins ANYthing!!!

Check out the link...

Here's a picture of the 5 yards of Montage Fabric by Benartex that I won!!

Now I will need a pattern for this lovely stash of fabric. Oh yes, I will be adding some red to it.

Wow, oh wow - how exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine that... two wins in one day!!!
(3 wins in the last month... I guess that might be it for wins for a long while.)

Fabric, Quilt Blocks & Quilts

Remember that I won "something" a few weeks ago from the Layer Cake Quilt-Along's draw?
Well... here it is... 3 very lovely, lively & fun fabrics (fat-quarters).
Aren't they just ever so wonderful??!!
(Hmmm... what to make with these fun fabrics??)
"Diamond Mine" quilt block for the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along (P2QA).
"Fourth Inning" quilt block for the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along (P2QA).
The 7 quilt blocks the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along (P2QA). The sashing will be brown.

Wonky Squares Quilt - finished a while back but I finally got a full picture of it.
For the Layer Cake Quilt Along, I did a second set of blocks using the "Collection for a Cause: Hope" fabrics by Howard Marcus. I added chestnut & hazelnut solids sashings then set it all on-point. I really like the border that I purchased at my local quilt shop.
This quilt, which measures approx 76"x76" will not be done for quite some time. I want to wait for fabric to be on sale on my local fabric store, and I'm not sure if I'll try quilt this one together on my machine or if I'll get it professionally quilted (which costs $). So, I'll wait for now.

Quilting Bits & a Knit Hat

The beginning of this week I was busy sewing, but I have put the sewing machine away for a few days as I am in the midst of 12-hour shifts working at the hospital.

So, here are the pix of this week's accomplishments:

My Layer Cake Quilt Along: quilt top sewn together.
The back for my Layer Cake Quilt Along. Now to sew the 2 sides together.
I did a few quilt blocks for the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt-Along. The colours are oatmeal, grass, teal, and chocolate.

I finished the binding on my Wonky Squares Quilt.
I decided a few weeks ago that I would attempt to knit a hat, so I chose a baby hat to relearn how to knit. I've only ever knit scarves & it has been years!! Well, the hat is a bit to long in height, and the little knots on the top of the hat were a bugger to do, but I finally finished it.

The hat is too small for my son, and I don't have dolls for my son, I put the hat on a stuffed bear - but I had to roll up the hat b/c the hat was too big for the bear. Oh well.

Quilt Blocks & Quilt Kits

First of all, I have to introduce my latest purchase... an American Jane quilt kit! I just love this line & this quilt will be terrific. My son just might have 10 quilts by the time he's 5 years old - haha.

The kit came in this darling tin box (eventually I'll use it for sewing notions).

The letters are so Dick-&-Jane'ish - it reminds me of those books that I read way back in Grade 1!

I've been blog-stalking...
I found this idea below on my sister's friend Jen's blog & it was so adorable I had to make one, too, but for my son. Thanks, Jen, for the link & idea.

I filled my little Chick-sicle up with lavender & buckwheat. My son loves it. It now resides in the freezer door, but it can easily be heated (20-30 seconds) in the microwave.
I made 2 more Chick-sicles.
Another baby blanket I made. The one side is this neat cotton with a fine batting attached, and the reverse side is green flannel. I just love this blanket.

Here is the March block for Birdie Stitches Quilt Along 2011:
January, February, March Birdie Stitches Quilt Along blocks, sewn together.
April Birdie Stitches Q-A:
I joined another quilt-along... this one is Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt-Along (P2 QA). I bought these 4 fabrics & sewed them together to make this block (which I found via the Block-a-Palooza quilt along). I have to do some repairs to this block, but that is on next week's schedule.
Layer Cake Quilt Along (LCQA) Block #11 ("E-cclectic")

Block #12 for LCQA.

All 12 LCQA blocks in order (left to right, top to bottom rows)
Yesterday, I organized the quilt blocks & added sashing. I have to purchase some fabric for the border yet. I love this quilt top so far... blue down the middle, yellow/orange/green/brown scattered throughout. Lollipops fabric is definitely one of my favourite children's fabrics.
This quilt will be for my son's "big boy bed" one day.
Cute panel, eh? I purchased this one online...
I also bought 2 yards of this yummy fabric, also from the Lollipops fabric line.
I'm not sure this photo does this justice, but this actually looks great. This will be my backing for the LCQA quilt.

I've put the sewing machine away for a few days.
Next week's sewing plans:
- finish binding for one quilt
- finish binding & sashing for LCQA
- sew 2 blocks for P2QA
- buy/sew April Two-Toonies quilt block

I WON!!!!

Today I won something from Moose Quilts' Layer Cake Quilt Along. One of my block 11 photos was accepted by the computer as a winner.

http://moosequilts.blogspot.com/2011/04/block-eleven-winners.html

My Flickr photo was disabled for sharing, but my wonderful hubby helped me out, so I hope that issue is resolved.

I'm sooo excited!!! I never thought I'd win, but I always hoped.

Now I'll patiently await my "prize" - Hmmmm... whatever could it be????!!!
